WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Dominating in all three phases, the Purdue Boilermakers delivered a resounding performance on Saturday night, cruising to a 41-13 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers under the lights at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The win marked Purdue’s second straight Big Ten Conference victory—following a hard-fought win against Illinois—and secured back-to-back conference wins for the Boilermakers for the first time since their 2022 campaign. The 28-point victory also stands as Purdue’s largest margin of victory in Big Ten play since 2021.

The Revenge Game: Fame Ijeboi Takes Center Stage

The headline of the night belonged to sophomore running back Fame Ijeboi, who put together a career-defining performance against his former team.

Offensive coordinator Josh Henson made it clear early that Ijeboi would be the engine of the offense, and the running back delivered in dramatic fashion. By halftime, Ijeboi had already compiled 131 rushing yards and a touchdown. By the time the final whistle blew, he had recorded 195 rushing yards on 31 carries and 3 touchdowns, anchoring a Purdue ground game that amassed 305 total rushing yards.

Dual-threat quarterback Ryan Browne added fuel to the fire, complementing Ijeboi with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on 7 carries, while adding 159 passing yards and a touchdown strike to tight end George Burhenn.

Winning in the Trenches

Purdue’s dominance was built up front. Facing a Minnesota defense that entered the night ranked near the top of the Big Ten in sacks and tackles for loss, the Boilermakers’ offensive line surrendered zero sacks and allowed just three tackles for loss all evening.

On the defensive side, Purdue completely neutralized Minnesota’s ground game, holding the Golden Gophers to just 27 net rushing yards on 12 attempts. Defensive back Jojo Hayden snared an interception, while Purdue’s defense continuously disrupted Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey, keeping the Gophers off-balance throughout the second half.

Red Zone Fixes Pay Off

After struggling with touchdown conversions inside the 20-yard line in previous weeks, Purdue’s red-zone execution was near perfect. The Boilermakers scored on all 6 of their red-zone trips, converting 5 of those visits into touchdowns. Kicker Jacobo Echeverria Lozano chipped in with a perfect night, converting both field goal attempts (including a 45-yarder) and all 5 extra-point attempts.

What’s Next

With the victory, Purdue improved to 3-3 (2-1 B1G), resetting their momentum as they charge deeper into the heart of their Big Ten schedule.
